I only drink champagne on two occasions, when I am in love and when I am not - Coco Chanel
Coco Chanel is one of my favorite icons - She literally changed the world, if it wasn't for her us ladies would still be wearing corsets and puffy pink dresses. She created the lovely 'Little Black Dress' and that wonderful, nautical sailor top which we still use today...she came up with so much more, but those particular items I can relate to the most because I use them so much !
The 2008 Coco Chanel movie was pretty amazing, its in French but I still loved it - She lived a hard, tragic life but such beautiful things came from it...
There is no snow lightly falling
Nor the sounds of trumpets calling
But the sun shines its light of gold
As African drums beat rhythms of soul
For South Africa’s Christmas time
With food and joy and song sublime
Is one of warmth and not of cold
Full of magic, a mystery untold
The lion bows, the cheetah plays
They all know this glorious day
-unknown
Christmas in Africa
under a Southern sky
Where mountain mist
meets the seaside kissed
And a penguin waddles by.
Christmas in Africa
under a Southern sky
Where the bush pig roams
far away from home
And a sunbird sings on high.

Hope you like this 'Early Christmas Special' haha - I realized when Christmas actually comes, Self Capture's 52 weeks will be over! So I thought I'd sneak a Christmas-sy one in, and bring in the Christmas spirit (btw its 59 days to Christmas!)
The song: Its kinda old; I recently found it again, and fell inlove and cannot stop playing it - Lenka is just lovley.
“Reflection must be reserved for solitary hours; whenever she was alone,
she gave way to it as the greatest relief; and not a day went by
without a solitary walk, in which she might indulge in all the delight
of unpleasant recollections.”
― Jane Austen
Reflections... such powerful and magical things. I love the colors in these pictures, they inspried me today :)
Hope this brightened up your day! x
(they look better when you click the photo, to see them at its' full size)
This here ^ is a short film I made. It's kind of 'in place of ' a Self Portrait, its still one though, just moving.
As you can see the title is 'Bits and Bobs' so I put two photos up just for fun, taken at different moments. Hope you like this spontaneous-ness of this blog post ! x
'High Walls'
'Close'
Just found out about Lorde. She is absolutely amazing, I'm inlove with her music, as you can see I used one of her songs in my moving picture movie. Thought I'd just share the whole song with you -
Hope you liked this bunch of weirdness, will be making a better effort next week!
Still trying to upload every single blog picture again (due to them ALL being deleted off my blog) so they will be up soon!
A flutter of warmth twinkled in her eye, as she watched the romantic inks entwine into a depth seeking sunset. - r j king

Yes, I didn't post last week due to the holidays...
I stupidly went and deleted all my blog photos by a mistake. I am slowly uploading them all again one by one, so don't get a fright if you don't see some pictures :)
Thanks Abi VDH for the make-up, and joy-joy for the great help X
“Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art--
Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
And watching, with eternal lids apart,
Like nature's patient, sleepless Eremite,
The moving waters at their priestlike task
Of pure ablution round earth's human shores,
Or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask
Of snow upon the mountains and the moors--
No--yet still stedfast, still unchangeable.
-John Keats, Bright Star

HOLIDAYS - So I'm a bit lazy. But I manged to do this today, and I actually had time to do it this time, normally I'm in a rush.
What I love most about rivers is you can't step in the same river twice. -Pocahontas
~*~
Here is a little Disney song flash back, my sister Eden is obsesed with this song and convinced me to use it.
I know, I've been delayed with posts! Wanting to change that though - this was fun to do, I've been wanting to do Pocahontas for weeks now and I've finally done her!
Thank you Joy and Gracie for the help :)
I posted *three* photos to try and make up for the week I missed - Hope you enjoyed this post xo
I know I shouldn't say this often but I'm not really happy with this picture haha - It was actually raining on and off when it was taken, but for some weird reason you can't see the rain here. 'Hip Hop' has never really been my style, and I know that anybody can do that move haha but I want to stretch myself in the pictures I do, I seem to have a theme in quite a few of them so here is something different!
Thanks to everyone with the lovely ideas! They helped me a lot, and inspired me - and thanks to my mother dearest for the help. Hoping to do another 'rainy' one on Friday so stay tuned!
Have a lovely warm evening in this horrific weather xo
“When good Americans die, they go to Paris.”- Oscar Wilde
~*~
Not much to say here... Never been to Paris but it sounds lovely- This isn't all that 'Paris' like but you know twas fun to do, thought i'd just end it with a sleepy french song, hope you enjoyed this xo
“Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind,
And therefore a winged Cupid is painted blind.”
― William Shakespeare, Midsummer Night's Dream
“I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine.”
― William Shakespeare, Midsummer Night's Dream
~*~
Love Shakespeare, Love Flowers, Love Lana Del Ray - so this was fantastic to do, besides the fact that the water got cold quickly....
Thanks so much Edes darling for the great help!
Have a lekker evening all , and hope you liked this xo
Oh gosh looking at all this right now makes me laugh! It was super fun to do, dressing up and trying to find pink in my closet...didn't really work out with that. All this is actually quite 90's, if you were a 90's kid you would remember this delightful, damn, annoying, stuck-in-your-head song haha -Anyways, 12 more weeks to go, can't believe it - if you have any special ideas for the up-coming posts please comment below and tell me!
Hope ya'll enjoyed this, see you next week with another weird picture xo
aaaahah this was so much fun to do, when i got this idea i couldn't wait to try it out! And it basically did work thank heavens, the first picture with one of my favorite paintings on 'The Kiss', i just adore it, i've got it up in my room and everything. Filming the movie ^ was the best though, it felt like i was part of the moving picture. I am defiantly going to do some more pictures in the future with projectors - Thanks so much for the projector Quist family! And eden darling for the great help X
Have a brilliant evening all, will try and post another picture sometime this week since I am behind.... xo

It was so hard to choose which picture for this one, might load the others on Self Capture's page later. This is a strange post I know, just felt like something like this so yeah - and the song, Fall out Boy is just pretty amazing, and this song is one of my favorites and I thought it kinda went with the picture...
have a lovely week! Still one more picture to catch up with, might post at the end of this week or i'll just do two next week again xo
If you haven't seen my 'Tips on how to be Professional Longboarder' video, then go back to my last post and watch it. Then come back here and watch the BLOOPERS

~*~
I know, I've missed TWO WEEKS -That is why I will try and be posting another two posts this week, it's been a busy holiday so I didn't have the time and energy to Self Captures..
This was so fun to do! I've always LOVED this era, everything about the 1920's is just so glamorous, fun, quirky and just simply amazing. I tried to make the pictures look old fashioned, like from that time. I actually havn't seen The Great Gatsby movie yet, I reallllllllllyyyy want to, but I have heard the songs from the movie which I instantly fell inlove with! Both these songs are magical, I'm actually doing a dance to 'A little party never killed nobody' for my dance class, so much fuuuun
-Thanks Edes darling for the great help xo
Feeling like a quick laugh? Check out a vid my friend and I made about how to be a professional longboarders haha
"I'm one of those regular weird people" - Janis Joplin
Janis Joplin was a 70's hippy, musician who played at the famous Woodstock Festival in 1969 - she was a wild woman with a unique voice. I tried to do a 'redo' picture of her here - what do you think? I could totally be her daughter right?
"Don't compromise yourself. You are all that you've got" - Janis Joplin
I didn't use a Janis Joplin song because I couln't find one that I really liked and thought that it would go with this post. So I used these amazing group of men! This song is just the best, its so feel-good and relaxing haha
This post was really fun to do - thanks Edey darling for the great help! And Lia-jie for her perfect glasses :)

My Lords, do whatever you wish. As for
me, I shall do no otherwise than pleases me.
-Queen Elizabeth 1
~*~
This was interesting to do haha ... it's a bit of a Queen Elizabeth with a twist- i had to do a lot of research for this one! All i know about her really is that she was a mean lady who didn't bath or brush her teeth aah please correct me i'm wrong...
I found a song, thanks to Tonya for suggesting the Sex Pistols - I know it's not about this ^ queen but i still think it fits in a weird way! And plus these guys have such a shweeet sense of style
Thanks so much Dani for the dress - and Dad an Edes for the great help!
She drew her breath, awaiting the water's comforting effect.
Gently her eye lids close, she crinkles up her cold nose.
Bent-over, her fingers rest upon the skirts of the pool,
her shivering reflection whispers 'get in you fool'.
Pressing her hands into the icy bricks, she lowers herself into the warm-kicks, of the water.
Carbon Dioxide escapes her lips heavily.
The soft warmth of steam kisses her face lovingly.
The calm water has such a magical air, it caresses her flowing hair.
Gently it absorbs into her skin, calming her deep within.

Ahhh this was exhasting to do! Well really the editing i did it all in such a mad rush...It doesn't really have a theme...I rushed so hard to find a song and i chose this one, i dont really know why, its just 'calming' i guess and plus it's one of my favorites. If you guys know of another song that could have worked please tell me!
These pics where taken at Goudini Spa, so the water was so lovely and warm, and everything else was freaken freezing!

Yeees i know its been really long since i last posted, since i've been away in the middle of cold South Africa with my family. That is where i've taken my last two Self Capture pictures (will be posting the other one tomorrow evening) I love South Africa! With all its beautiful weirdness! Freshly Ground is just great and this song has been my jam since i was like 10 !
I've never posted this late before, I was sick so I didn't have to do it in the week. This was fun to do, except I hate Saris , they are the most uncomfortable outfit ever! They are so beautiful though, my respect for Indian women has grown, you guys are heroes walking in those beautiful colors...
This music video is just the best! These guys are hilarious! This song will get stuck in your head..
Forever, opens up to the world with an ever lasting smile.
Forever, dreams your dream and runs your every mile.
Forever, is holding your hand tight,
Forever, shines through you with amazing light.
Forever, sings the song you never sang,
Forever, has your future written on the back of His hand.
Forever, helps you get up and stand.
Forever, has always loved you forever.
My song is Your song,
And You've sung it forever.

Hope you all enjoyed this weeks post, it's a little weird but this was all on the spur of the moment. Chocolates and Cigarettes is one of my strange favorite songs..
Thanks to Edes for the great help!
Shooting this was pretty funny, believe it or not but that graceful field is right next to a busy road, so people were driving past giving us weird looks, but twas fun.
I have been meaning to put copyright marks on my pictures but I just havn't gotten to it yet but that doesn't mean you can use my pictures for whatever, if you would like to use them please message me on my Self Capture page on facebook.

Yes! I did Alice In Wonderland! I've been wanting to do this one for a while.... It was so much fun doing this one -editing and all. The film was very last minute I just happened to bring my video camera, so I was like, why not?! My mother helped me so very much with this all, thank you Joy- Joy.

Ahoy Mate! This was great fun to dress up as, as you can see it was themed very much as 'Pirates of the Caribbean', I look a bit like a girl version of Jack... I'm glad I did this one (Thanks Mici ! ) Although I've already done two very similar ones in my blog -'Autumn' (November) and 'Sailor Girl' (January) if you go and have a look at them you'll understand why I say this! Thanks Abigail for the props and such was a great help darling - And Edes, you're the beeeest!
Go to my Self Capture page on Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Self-Capture/510137405715476?fref=ts - To find more behind the scenes and bloopers from my other posts and more pictures of my pirate costume , will be uploading soon.. (highlight the link and paste in search)
Yes! I did the 'Sci Fi' one - not sure if it looks that Sci Fi but yeah. (Thanks Tonya! It's a pity Asher couldn't be in the picture haha) I am supposed to be some weird alien girl. This Song by Florence and the Machine 'Spectrum' its pretty cool - But I've heard it SO many times, but this one is a remix, I quite like it. The words and such are quite spacy and Sci Fi to me so I chose this song...
Wish I didn't have to do this picture in such a rush! It was freeeezzing outside but obviously I miraculously coped..

Yeaaahh this a strange blog post! I couldn't make up mind what to do this week...and then Edes gave me some ideas! Thank you Eden! If you didn't figure out the picture already, I'm a character whose been brought out of her world and is obviously lost, with some of the writing left on her face. All this is all from the book\movie 'Inkheart'. If you've seen it or read it you would understand this. Ah yeah the song is quite old but I love it - It doesn't really go with the picture but I was stuck when it came to choosing the song so I chose "Bloom" !
As the viewer of this its your choice to make up your mind on who I am in the picture ...
Please Note: I only came up with the idea just before i took these rushed pictures, so I'm sorry for the um unpolished-ness of it!
A big thanks to my dear Father for helping me with this!

Hope you all liked this weeks blog post! It was real fun to do - A big thanks to the Bradley family for letting me use David's Army uniform (I'm not wearing the whole outfit in these pictures though) ! Dressing up and doing the research and watching this AWESOME song (FUN are just the best, love them!) it all really makes you think about being in their positions and such. My respect for fighters of all countries is now risen!
Thank you Eden darling for the great help, and mother dearest xo
Upon the dais rested a great throne fashioned entirely of shimmering electrum - and on the throne sat a women so coldly beautiful that it took away the breath to gaze on her. She sat stiffly, her glittering dark eyes fixed, her hands holding emblems shining with gold and enamel. Fluted linen , fine as cobwebs enveloped her like mist; she was weighted with jewels.

Yes, this song seems like it has nothing to do with Cleopatra, but it actually does, well to me it does. Lily Allen reminds me of her some how, or she looks and acts like I think Cleopatra did. Lily even has Cleo's hair style, attitude, and look, especially in this strange music video. Lily is rather wild and has her own very extravagant style. Just like I think Cleopatra was like!
- A BIG thanks to Eden dear! Thank you darling sister, you helped me alot . . .
And thanks to Debi and Jazz Hawkins, for the charming necklace!
